Conversations with Missy: David Allen, Nashville Elvis Festival
The journey to becoming an Elvis Tribute Artist is different for everyone. Though many of the ETAs started out as young Elvis fans, their stories are all uniquely different. For ETA David Allen, his beginning was not what I expected.
As Allen described the moments that led to him becoming an Elvis Tribute Artist, I could not help but smile. Who would have known that a simple command from his father would change his life? Allen explained it was watching his father, who had seen Elvis perform 5 times, sing Elvis karaoke that started this journey. During our conversation at the 2018 Nashville Elvis Festival, Allen shared that he has traveled all over the world paying tribute to "The King". From Mexico to Japan, Canada to Brazil and everywhere in between, Allen has performed as Elvis for many adoring fans. Wondering what it was like to be an ETA performing in Japan, I asked Allen about his experience. It was immediately clear by his response the level of appreciation Allen has for what he is able to do.
