This is my second trip to Nashville for CRS (Country Radio Seminar) and I must say that this year was beyond my imagination as far as what I could have wanted to be able to do, while attending. At the invitation of GrassRoots Promotions, I attended their annual CRS Mixer which kicks off the week for their artists. This year’s event was again held at the Bridgestone Arena and was called the 2017 Starlight Dinner.
Artists attend this event to meet with Radio Programmers and Disc Jockeys that are essential in an artist’s success on country radio. It is also an opportunity to just get together with your peers and have a laid-back night of food, drinks and fun.
In making my way over to the artists to see who was available for an interview, I ran into, literally, ran into, Rick Trevino. It took me a minute, while I am holding onto his arm, to realize who exactly, I have a hold of, while trying to look like I am not at all “fan-girling”. In reality, I was doing exactly that.
Trevino, a Grammy-Award winning Mexican American country music artist, began his career in 1993, with his debut single “Just Enough Rope”, which was the first mainstream country music single to feature separate English and Spanish-language versions. The song was included on his debut album titled, Dos Mundos. Trevino has released seven studio albums to date and has charted a total of fourteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country charts, including three number one singles.
Watch the video to hear what he has to say about a new album, a new single and what song people request most from him during shows today, which surprised even him.
Make sure you check Trevino out on all social media platforms, follow, like, share and you will understand why, even though it has been five-years since he has given us “die hard RT fans” new music, he causes the “fan girl” to appear.
