A Cool Surprise From The Lit Guys

Conversations with Missy: Lit
As the parent of a special needs child, the most surprising thing about a surprise show is when I actually get to go. When I saw Lit, a band I love, post a surprise announcement that they would be playing a free show at The Slidebar Rock-N-Roll Kitchen, I was stoked. The stars aligned and I was able to attend.
I made dinner reservations for my little group so we could grab a bite to eat and a drink or two before the show. The food at Slidebar is awesome and the service is sweet. During dinner we received our wristbands. Then, when it was time to go to the back, we moved with the crowd down the long hallway that funneled into the small, standing room only area. From there we made our way to the front of the stage (being short, it is vital at these types of shows).
Though we were told Lit would perform after the other bands scheduled to play, (Dirty Machine, Know Your Enemy, Fused By Defiance and Fight The Heathens), we all received another big surprise when Lit walked through the heavy black curtain, ready to rock. They took the stage first, within minutes of the audience filling the room.
Everyone was elated to see them in the "backyard" type of setting. They were joking and interacting with the amped up crowd as if they knew everyone personally. At one point in the evening, Jeremy Popoff had some guitar issues and everyone could hear Kevin Blades yell, “Welcome to rehearsal!” We all had a great laugh. Honestly, it was an amazing feeling to be up close to such a fun performance, with musicians whom I admire, respect, and whose music I love.
Thanks guys for the kick ass surprise. You totally rock and we will definitely see you again.
Be sure to catch Lit on the Summerland Tour 2016 now with Sugar Ray, Everclear, and Sponge. Center Stage Magazine will be there too, so stay tuned. ~Dilly
