CMA Fest Artist Spotlight: Laura Ashley

I am so excited to introduce you to one of my new favorite CMA Fest Artist Spotlight features, Laura Ashley. This seemingly shy young female artist is a powerhouse on stage. Singing a ballad or fast pace song, she knows exactly how to deliver chills to her audience.

Performing for many fans at CMA Fest, this artist sure lit up the crowd at Alley Taps. Her beaming personality, sweet smile and vocal range attracted all who were there. You could not help but want to hear more. While she performed the first song she had written on her own, I could not help but think how great it would also be to hear her sing a Miranda Lambert tune. I just knew her inner sass could pull it off. I was not wrong and that is exactly what Ashley did.

Though she was not on our confirmed list of artist interviews, we knew we had to ambush her for one after her set. Watch our conversation now and read her bio that I stole directly from her website below.

"Laura Ashley is a brand new charming sensation that promises a powerhouse in country music. There is nothing fake about this country girl who is full of life, passion, and a hankering for adventure.

Though Laura has devoted many years to classical vocal training, her true sass and joy come out best when she’s belting it with a twang. She recently decided to follow her dream of performing and writing country music.

Though Laura is just beginning, she was already invited to sing at CMA Fest in Nashville. She is easily becoming a noteworthy artist due to her booming vocals, sincere heart, and rocking performances. The debut of her original single "Don't Fence Me In" led her to reach number 1 on the Iceman's Top 40 Chart for New Country Artists! Laura Ashley sings locally and is played on several radio stations both nationally as well as internationally. Laura has been inspired by many on this journey but the most notable experience was when she sang backstage with artists Randy Houser, Thomas Rhett, Lauren Alaina, and Phil Vassar. She credits these artists for helping her to chase her dreams. Laura has opened for artists such as Jamie O' Neal, Trick Pony, and The Mustang Sally Band.

Laura Ashley has big plans for 2016 She'll be working on her first EP, while at the same time, performing and songwriting every chance she gets. Performing at renown venues like Tootsies and The Commodore Grill, Laura makes frequent trips to Nashville and feels like it's her second home.

Laura’s love for country music runs deep. With her love for wide open spaces and her remarkable little red horse, Lil' Bit, Laura is a true cowgirl. Heck, she's even ridden her horse to work on several occasions! With her authentic country background, anyone can see that her music is real!

So if you’re ever in their hometown you just might see Laura Ashley and her horse galloping across green fields with a sense of fierce freedom trailing behind them in the wind. And if you’re quiet you might hear a country song echoing off the golden Ozark hills. Laura has tucked her country voice inside all her life... until now.  There’s a promising future for this cowgirl with big vocals and her little red horse!"

Please connect with Ashley on social media now. Check out her website, watch her videos and do not forget to watch our full conversation now. She is a spirited artist that deserves all our love, attention, and support. Share her page with your friends too. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
