Conversations with Missy: Josh Hoyer

My mind has been completely blown. The level of talent inside Josh Hoyer is not at all what I expected to hear. Hoyer was introduced to me through our mutual friend Christy Kuhl. Frankly, I did not expect to hear chops like his. From the first note, I was entranced by this man's extraordinary gift.

Hoyer is Soul, Funk and R&B all in one. His flawless delivery in "Parts of a Man" is what captivated me. While trying to figure out how to describe his sound, I ran across a quote that I felt described his vocal ability brilliantly.

"If James Brown and Otis Redding had a love child it would be Josh Hoyer..."     -No Depression

During our conversation, Hoyer and I spoke about this quote. His reaction was great. His personality shines through all he does and I could not help but feel fascinated by him. His appreciation for fans and his humbleness was a delight. There is so much to this outstanding talent.

2015 was a busy year for Hoyer and his band Soul Colossal. They played 150 shows in 32 states. If that was not enough, they also recorded two albums during that time. Of the two albums, Cooked Raw was recorded live and released in November as a limited edition on vinyl. Set for release on April 8, 2016, is Running From Love, which will be available on vinyl, CD and digital format. For all vinyl fans out there, you have to add this to your collection.

Prepare for your jaw to be dropped by Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal. This eclectic group of artists is sure to make your head spin in pure amazement. Pre-order your copy of Running From Love now. Follow them on social media and share them with your friends. They will thank you for it. My mind is still blown and now it is time for them to blow yours. ~Missy

About Missy Wolf

Missy Wolf Co-Founder, Editor, Journalist & Vice President of the American Country Music Association

From an early age I knew music and entertainment were in my blood. I have always been enamored with the idea of being in this industry, though I never wanted to be a front and center "Star". Taking the audience behind the scenes for up close conversations with the artists they love is where I want to be. Life in lyrics has always been my style, so as my favorite country artist Wade Hayes sings, I am living my life and chasing my dreams! Conducting interviews, meeting talented people and sharing stories and adventure are my passion. My new favorite hashtag is #iaskyouanswer, so stay tuned for more interviews, articles and adventures!
